With the opening of our Highland Park retail outlet on Kirkwall’s high street and the continued growth of the brand, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Distillery Brand Ambassador to join the Highland Park tribe. This role will be based in Orkney.


Reporting to the Visits and Retail Operations Manager, this role will be the focal point for brand knowledge at the Highland Park distillery and shop, and throughout Orkney. The Distillery Brand Ambassador will be responsible for building relationships with high spending visitors and other VIPs, as well as with key local media and trade contacts. The role will also involve extensive involvement in training of the distillery visitor experience hosts and retail staff, ensuring their knowledge is kept fully up to date with new product releases and brand initiatives.  Furthermore, the Distillery Brand Ambassador will  establish and execute a training programme for the Orkney hospitality industry and ensure that this is run on a regular basis to cover changes in personnel.


As well as the above, key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Supporting the distillery and global team with the tour script ensuring it is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that it is fully up to date and consistent with the brand story;

  • Being the voice of the brand throughout Orkney;

  • Working closely with the Highland Park Global Senior Brand Ambassador and act as a role model for the global Brand Ambassador community;

  • Greeting all visitors with the best Orcadian welcome and delivering a consistently high quality visitor experience in line with our 5 star Visit Scotland criteria across all areas of the Highland Park Distillery;

  • Ensuring that the Premium visitor experience offering is always exceptional and in line with the brand’s Viking Soul personality;

  • Building a collaborative working relationship across all aspects of the visitor experience, tailoring the premium offerings to visitor needs to ensure they have the best experience;

  • Ensuring all visitor experience hosts and retail staff are trained to a level allowing them to carry out their role to a high standard;

  • Building a network across Orkney’s bars, restaurants and hotels and train the staff in these establishments to a standard where they are confident speaking about Highland Park and our products;

  • Developing a plan for training staff on cruise ships and liaising with the relevant cruise ship companies to allow the roll out of the plan.

For this role, we need an individual who has a background in the drinks industry with a strong understanding of hospitality. Excellent presentation skills and a natural ability to communicate with different audiences is a given, as well as having a positive, enthusiastic and committed approach. You must be able to demonstrate expert influencing skills and hold the highest standards in customer service and care. This role involves working a variety of shifts, including weekend work.
