Following the announcement that the Operations Leadership team will restructure, we have an exciting opportunity for a Group Operations Technical Director to join the team. The role is intended lead the group operations technical function in the drive for world class performance in the areas of Quality, Continuous Improvement, Engineering, and Business Compliance.


This will include leading improvement programmes, in line with the operational strategy; delivery of outstanding operational support and service in the areas of operational process control and asset management.  This role will be the standard bearer for the delivery of world class standards in the areas of Health & safety, Environment, product satisfaction through consumer quality control, and sustainability through an integrated continuous improvement way of working across operations.


Reporting to the Group Operations Managing Director, key responsibilities for this role will include:


  • Using the Edrington leadership standards, provide inspirational leadership and direction to our people, ensuring that teams are motivated, aware of and focused on the key levers of operational excellence

  • Provide input and guidance on the creation of the Operational strategic plan

  • Develop, manage and execute strategic investment plans in order to achieve agreed business commitments

  • Define an operational plan for Engineering, Quality, Continuous Improvements and Compliance, including annual and long terms plans that address continuous improvement activity and the total capital asset plan

  • Directly and through the technical team propose and/or evaluate investment needs with regard to operational facilities against the background of the operational and business strategy

  • Create a ‘breeding ground’ for key operational positions particularly in the development of key technical managerial and leadership roles in quality, continuous improvement, engineering and compliance

  • The role holder and their team will influence and/or participate in appropriate trade bodies, associations and regulatory frameworks to ensure the best interests of Edrington are represented

  • Lead and motivate the wider operations team to own the continuous improvement agenda and implement a clear CI structure across the Operations function with tangible and sustainable results across all key operational drivers

  • Ensure that there are robust processes in place in order to manage all invasive work in a safe and controlled fashion whether executed with own employees or contractors


To be successful in this role candidates will be degree qualified in a technical discipline (preferably engineering) and be an expert in continuous improvement methodologies and working practices. You will have excellent project management skills and understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape in relation to quality, engineering, safety and environment. You will have a sold strategic commercial understanding and packaging knowledge along with a good understanding of liquid/ chemical processing environments would be a distinct advantage.


You will be able to demonstrate the leadership standards (inspire, change, collaborate, engage and deliver) within your role on a day to day basis.
