HR Assistant, salary range: £18,500 - £25,000 - Glasgow - Great Western Road

A new opportunity within the HR team has been created for an HR Assistant to support the TRANSFORM people agenda within Operations. Reporting directly into the HR Advisor, this role will be based at our Operational site at Great Western Road with occasional travel to our other UK Operational sites. 


The HR Assistant will be responsible for supporting the HR team in providing a comprehensive and professional HR service to the Group Operations business. 


Key responsibilities for this role include:


  • Working closely with the resourcing team to co-ordinate all Operational recruitment at GWR and across Distillation. You will also support the recruitment of junior staff roles, supporting the full employment cycle.

  • Lead the local site HR induction ensuring a positive experience for the new employees.

  • You will be the first point contact for the HR Advisor / HRBP for any assistance that is required on a day-to-day basis.

  • You will ensure all systems and paperwork relating to disciplinary proceedings are kept up-to-date, in accordance with HR Advisors / HR Business Partner requirements.

  • You will be responsible for issuing all temporary operators offer letters, contract extensions and termination paperwork

  • Yearly negotiations with trade unions for Annual Core Flexi contracts.

  • You will be one of the main contacts for any Employee Central (EC) updates for the Operations team, including ePDR queries, employee position changes and salary updates.

  • Ensuring all payroll data is up-to-date and submitted on a monthly basis in line with strict time-lines.

  • You will support the UK Graduate and Saltire Internship programmes on a yearly basis, assisting with rotational scheduling. You will also co-ordinate the school work experience placements, ensuring all appropriate H&S checks have been completed in line with local authority requirements.

To be considered for this role you will be highly organised to manage multiple activities at once.  Attention to detail and a continuous improvement mind-set are considered essential qualities. You must have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office tools.

You will have previous experience of working within an HR team, perhaps working towards CIPD or Certificate in Personnel Practice. You will have the confidence and gravitas to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders cross functionally at all levels.
