Further to a recent promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an Inspection Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Great Western Road bottling facility. The role is responsible for delivering our programme of inspection, reporting and recording of all plant and equipment within hazardous areas as defined in DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) and COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) regulations; specifically the inspection of safety critical equipment (primary and secondary containment and cask racking structures).

The successful candidate will be responsible for covering Edrington’s ‘South’ sites which include our Blending and Bottling plant, Warehousing and Cooperage sites. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completing visual, close and detailed inspection of mechanical and electrical equipment within zoned areas to an agreed schedule.
  • Recording and highlighting faults to an agreed procedure.
  • Visual inspection of 10% asset register and document.
  • Utilising scheduling software to manage the inspection regime.
  • Maintaining relevant documentation, including asset registers, to support DSEAR compliance.
  • Establishing a close interface with the core process engineering teams to promote safe working practices and support an effective system for identified part failures
  • Providing engineering compliance support for the capital investment programme, to incorporate new equipment into the compliance regimes.
  • Identify and escalate any slippage in the 3-year inspection cycle.
  • Work the inspection regime around equipment availability for isolation and close assessment, balancing operational requirements, and encompassing the multiple sites of Edrington operations.
  • Handover identified faults and required remedial works to the process engineering team.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient implementation of compliance management processes, including use of the permit-to-work and contractor management systems as appropriate.

The job holder should hold an HNC/HND qualification in an engineering discipline and be a trained electrician to the appropriate IEC Standards.  In addition to the core electrical competencies specific certification appropriate for fulfilling the requirements of the DSEAR and ATEX regulations, including an understanding of the principles of explosion protection, types of protection and marking is also required.

To be successful in this role you should also have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation with an understanding of statutory requirements, as well as a solid understanding of process and production environments. You will also have the ability to read and assess engineering drawings and to interpret data with a systematic and logical approach and be comfortable working autonomously.

Due to the requirement to attend various work sites a clean driving licence is desirable.
