An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Trainee Blender within the Liquid Quality team at our Operations base. The successful candidate will play a key role within the team,  assisting in the daily operation of the Sample Room. This role will be key to running routine sensory analysis of a variety of liquids ensuring quality approvals for daily blending and bottling operations. You will  quality assess the maturing cask stock to ensure portfolio delivery for future years is on track.

 

Reporting to the Master Blender, key responsibilities for this role include:-

  • Routine sensory approvals for a variety of liquids – NMS, cask samples, blend and bottling vats, NPD liquids and reducing waters.Additionally, empty cask screening will be required.

  • Assessment of maturing whisky stocks.

  • Responsibility for ensuring sample room HMRC compliance – all aspects of sample control, including electronic sample systems, documentation and duty payments where required.Covers routine internal samples (NMS, cask, blend, bottling and line samples), customer and market samples.

  • Supporting sensory panel work – participation and set up/design of tests when required.

  • Management of the sampling, measurement and reporting of short research projects.

  • Creation and review of sample room procedures.

                   

The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual with excellent sensory aptitude. A Scientific qualification, with experience of working in sample management systems / data analysis / simple statistical tools, would be preferred but not essential.   They will be a team player who can engage well with others in an approachable manner. They will be flexible with a desire to go the extra mile in a fast paced team environment.
