Following the recent expansion of our warehousing operations at our Macallan Distillery,  a 6-months secondment opportunity has arisen for a Warehouse Supervisor on backshift. The shift pattern for this role is - 3.00pm -11.00pm Monday – Thursday and 11.30am - 7.30pm on a Friday (37.5 hours per week).


This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient daily operation of our current warehouse processes at Macallan.  The warehouse supervisor will organise the day-to-day activities of the warehouse team.  A key aspect of these role will involve working closely with the warehouse and production teams. These roles also ensure that the warehouse squads are fully manned and utilised to achieve KPIs.


Reporting to the Backshift Warehouse Operations Manager, key tasks and responsibilities of these roles include:

  • Organise day-to-day activities of the warehouse team

  • Decide on action to be taken in the event of warehouse operational problems

  • Responsibility for daily warehouse security

  • Supervision of contractors whilst on warehouse sites

  • Liaison with warehouse operations manager (backshift), Macallan BU team warehouse operators, and other company personnel as required

  • Stock control of empty and full casks and associated materials including all sampling and racking plans.

  • Undertake all warehouse operator’s duties as necessary

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping

  • Adopt new technology and implement and use where required, e.g. data logging, hand held terminals, bar coding & PC operation

  • Train other operators to defined roles

  • Involvement in the design of operational systems and procedures

  • Provide a 24 hour on call service on a rota basis (only at some sites) or occasionally provide cover at other sites.


To be successful in this role previous experience within a warehouse and/or production environment would be preferred and previous supervisory experience would be advantageous. An awareness of H&S, HMRC and environmental policies would be beneficial.
